Rabbi Avi Leading Songs & Prayers
Top of Masada
Bar/Bat Mitzvah on the top of masada or at the western wall in jerusalem
Do you have a dream of celebrating the Bat/Bar Mitzvah of your daughter or son on the top of Masada or at the Kotel (Western Wall) in Jerusalem, or at an alternative site? Rabbi Avi, a liberal, American-born rabbi, who lives in Jerusalem with his wife and 4 children, would be thrilled and honored to help make this once-in-a-lifetime experience a truly meaningful, memorable and inspiring event.
Rabbi Avi, who grew up in Montreal, Canada, was a congregational Rabbi for almost a decade in the Boston area, first serving as Harvard University's Campus Rabbi and then leading the Jewish Community of Newburyport, MA. His extensive experience with B'nai Mitzvah and creating meaningful and joyous ceremonies makes him uniquely suited to assist you in the planning of this paramount spiritual event in the life of your daughter or son. Rabbi Avi, beyond officiating the ceremony, is ready to guide and tutor your child in preparation for the big day, both spiritually and to lead parts of the service including reading from the Torah. Rabbi Avi will also take the lead on the logistical planning of the ceremony itself. From reserving space on the top of Masada or at the Western Wall (at the Robinson’s Arch plaza where there is no gender separation) to planning a festive meal to follow or booking a photographer. The Bar/Bat Mitzvah boy or girl does not need to be able to read Hebrew!

FAQ’S
Does my son or daughter need to be able to read or know Hebrew? No. Rabbi Avi approaches every Bar/Bat Mitzvah as a unique event which should be inspiring, relevant and meaningful for the child and family celebrating. Rabbi Avi officiates for families from the full range of backgrounds and traditions. Rabbi Avi does believe in challenging the child to prepare for the big day so they stand proud with a real sense of accomplishment. But of course the day should not become overwhelming and nerve-racking. That would take away from the holiness and joy of the occasion.
